Evanston Alehouse Font is a vintage display font. During the last one hundred years before the 18th amendment became the law of the land, Saloons, taverns and alehouses proliferated as the American working people learned to enjoy beer and embraced whiskey and gin. At the same time the Temperance League was being established and building up its strength. By the year 1900, these temperance societies became popular all over the country and individual towns and states had started campaigning to outlaw the use of alcohol. But one fact cannot be denied: by this time in history, America was a drinking nation. This font is based on the signs one would see outside of pubs and bars for example.
Moving to the contemporary period, the Evanston Alehouse is a 25 font family with 3 weights, 4 widths, and 3 heights. It has additional characteristics that enhance the personality of the font, such as discretionary ligatures and alternates. It also contains a set of complementary elements, such as line breaks, frames, borders, and entailment.
