FF Meta Font Erik Spiekermann designed and released the FF Meta sans serif typeface family in 1991 as part of the FontFont library. According to Spiekermann, it is intended as “an antidote” to Helvetica, which Spiekermann found to be “boring and dull.”
Interestingly, FF Meta came to life because of an unusual order from Deutsche Bundespost. In the 1990s, FF Meta was widely acclaimed by a number of leading designers such as Spiekermann and E. M. Ginger; many even consider it one of Helvetica’s successors from that era.
