Trebuchet MS Font Vincent Connare created Trebuchet Microsoft as a humanist sans-serif font for Microsoft Corporation in 1996, drawing its name from an historical siege weapon known as a trebuchet. Connare was intrigued to encounter this question during his meeting at Microsoft Headquarters: “Can an engine take someone from here to their consumer campus that’s one mile away?” Mathematically speaking, was this possible and what would it take for it to occur?” Connare considered this title appropriate for a font which will spread virally through the Internet.
Trebuchet MS was one of three fonts used as part of Windows XP’s default theme, following MS Sans Serif and Tahoma. Microsoft provided Trebuchet MS free as part of their primary web font package; it remains one of the most frequently used body text fonts across websites today.
